Quality Management
Quality Management
The Quality Management department functions to meet administrative and regulatory agency requirements so patients receive the best quality care at Wilkes Regional Medical Center.

MEDICAL STAFF SERVICES coordinate the appointments and reappointments of the medical staff. Information about the physicians' education, training, residency programs, licenses, etc. is gathered and physicians must be granted membership to the Medical Staff with approved privileges to practice before they can admit and care for patients in the hospital. Allied health practitioners must also be granted permission to practice in order to care for patients in the hospital. Additional information on quality of care must be gathered, verified, and reviewed at least every two years on each of these practitioners. This information is reviewed and approved by the Medical Executive Committee and the WRMC Authority Board to make sure that patients get the best medical care possible.

PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT, headed by an RN, performs multiple reviews of patient charts based on criteria developed by and requested by the Medical Staff and CEO. This includes data gathering for special projects requested by Medical Staff committees and analyses of trends and patterns of facility reports.

These functions insure the delivery of quality, safe medical care to our patients.
