Wilkes Regionals’ New Beginnings Birthing Center offers women’s health services, breast pump rentals, breastfeeding telephone help along with educational classes to provide patients with the knowledge they need regarding health and practical parenting instruction.

Baby Basics, My first Baby infant Care

Newborn baby care. Includes skin care, bathing, hygiene, feeding, signs and symptoms of sickness, cord care, safety and more!

Fee: $14.00


C-Section and VBAC Orientation

Private consultations for expectant couples who previously had or are anticipating Cesarean Birth.

Fee: FREE


Early Pregnancy Tea: Good Beginnings

Get a great start in your pregnancy, learn some of the physical and emotional changes you may experience, precautions, safety measures, nutrition, relaxation, and muscle toning.

Fee: FREE


"Great Start" Breastfeeding Class

Helps expectant moms decide whether or not to breastfeed. Also includes information on getting started, avoiding problems, working moms and breastfeeding, weaning and more!

Fee: $14.00


"Help-There's a Baby in the House"

Parents and grandparents will learn all about how a baby changes our whole lifestyle, roles and focus. Discuss child care, safety, child development, nutrition and much more.

Infant CPR

Noncertification. Learn infant life saving techniques such as choking and rescue breathing before they are needed!

Fee: $14.00


Infant Massage

Infant massage stimulates circulation, respiration, digestion and elimination. It can be helpful with colic and teething pain and healing from illness. WRMCs' licensed massage therapist teaches small group classes or is available for private instruction.

Kinder Tour

A tour for school aged children to provide them with information about the hospital, some of its department, and basic health information.

This tour is scheduled through the school system as an educational field trip.


Lamaze

Taught by LCCE Lamaze certified instructors, these childbirth education classes prepare couples for labor and delivery. (6 class series.)

Life with Breast Feeding

Helps breastfeeding moms prepare for returning to work or "life" in general and continue to breastfeed her baby. Discusses pumping, storing, duration of breastfeeding and weaning.

Fee: $14.00


Motherwell-Maternity Health and Fitness Program

A safe and fun way to shape during and after pregnancy (Endorsed by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists).

Fee: $25 1st Monday
$15 each Monday after


Nutritional Counseling

(also through dietary) Consultation with a Registered Dietitian to answer prenatal nutrition questions, improving chances of a healthy pregnancy. Specific needs, diabetes, vegetarian lifestyles, etc.

PreAdmission Visit

Patients in their 36-37 week of gestation to be pre-admitted, talk to a nurse, sign consent forms, and have a tour of the Birthing Center.

Refresher Lamaze

Couples with previous Lamaze deliveries review techniques and receive new information.

Fee: $14.00


Safe Sitter

Training that teaches teens what to expect when dealing with children, how to avoid problems and how to deal with problems that do arise. ( Endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics).

Fee: $35.00


Sibling Class "Hey, what about me?"

This class is for children expecting a new brother or sister. Instruction in diapering, holding "their" baby, hand washing, and a discussion of common feelings about having a new baby.

Smoke Free Births

"Freedom from Smoking for you and your baby" program and support to help mothers stop smoking.
